Senator Jeff Sessions (R, Al)
Porkbuster?
Maybe the headline
"Sessions is holding up spending bills " should have been
"Sessions holding up tax dollars wastage on pork"
"According to several publications, Sessions was one of three senators ( Tom Coburn , R-Okla., and Jim DeMint , R-S.C. were the others) who last month blocked the GOP leadership's efforts to bundle the remaining spending bills into one enormous "omnibus" measure that could be passed quickly.
Because of their size and the speed with which they are stitched together, omnibus bills are often seen as a seed bed for "pork" spending projects. "
Rep,
Artur Davis (D, Al), why don't you wait and challenge Sen. Richard Shelby (R, Al)? Jettsoning his pork barreling butt wouldn't bother me at all
Update
The Club for Growth
is announcing that
by preventing “an earmark-laden omnibus bill, Senate conservatives have effectively cut the number by 80 percent, down to 2,600 earmarks, according to Citizens Against Government Waste.”
Comments
I am seriously pleased to see something like this come about.
As a taxpayer, I am most concerned about how my (and our) tax dollars are efficiently and honestly used for our best progress.
Not someone's specific pocket nor particular constituency.
Reducing/elminating financial waste means we have better handles on funding projects that benefit us even moreso.
