We know the Government
regulates the bottom of the pay scale and wants to regulate the top.
Will the new desire for
private pay information according to sex, race and [s]immigration status[/s] become a stalking horse to equalize pay between job descriptions? It is something that
redneckin has suspected for some time

A good reason for Jury Nullification
I would have to demand a trial of my peers. Maybe I would get off or maybe not.
I know
if I was on the jury, the guy (or gal) would go free.

Abigail Thernstrom, a member of the Commission on Civil Rights
said that she did not find Adams's testimony convincing and that the facts of the case raised doubts in her mind, noting that the Black Panthers were standing in front of a majority-black precinct that had voted overwhelmingly for Democrats in previous elections -- not a prime spot for intimidating white voters.
I would think that would be the
Al Howard defense

And Bobby Bright
though a Democrat enabler will still vote like he was a conservative. Bobby Bright needs to be defeated because the (D) after his name helps wreck the nation
The rush to recess gives Democrats little time to pass any major laws. That's why there have been signs in recent weeks that party leaders are planning an ambitious, lame-duck session to muscle through bills in December they don't want to defend before November. Retiring or defeated members of Congress would then be able to vote for sweeping legislation without any fear of voter retaliation.
If any of this passes, blame Bobby Bright
I wonder what the rush was
in the spy trade? The US didn't even take time to adequately interrogate the Russian spies before making the trade.
Something embarrassing for the Obama and the Democrat administration?
Or worse, something that showed collusion between democrat leaders and the unkown Russian spies?

No easy answers
In general, I support a sales tax above property taxes or income taxes.
But for
Phenix City to raise its sales tax would only hurt local retailers who already have a rough time competing with the lower sales tax of Muscogee (Columbus) county
Audit a few citizens debit and credit cards for purchases that were made in Columbus and are subject to Alabama and local taxes, and Phenix City should see a revenue increase, not to mention the state

Don't worry
The taxpayers have to pay to make good on RSA commitments
Key measures of the financial health of the Retirement Systems of Alabama's biggest pension plans have fallen nine straight years, and for the fifth year in a row have dropped below a national benchmark for pension plans nationwide.
Just wondering
But do you think that since the unemployment benefits have ran out without congressional renewal that the next unemployment rate will reflect a growing number of job seekers or do you think the benefits will be restored before those who dropped out of the job hunt return?

Alabama's tax system
Bad but better than many?
Once this hypothetical head of household enters the labor market, he or she enters what Thies calls the Dead Zone, an area in which there is very little real benefit to working until the work pays well beyond $40,000 a year. The squiggly line in the Dead Zone reflects the fact that welfare and other income-based wealth transfers often disappear once workers enter the labor market. Unfortunately, given the median income in Alabama, a considerable number of workers operate in this Dead Zone.[4]

#1) According to the Tax Foundation’s Microsimulation Model, to erase the 2010 U.S. budget deficit, the U.S. Congress would have to multiply each tax rate by 2.4. Thus, the 10 percent rate would be 24 percent, the 15 percent rate would be 36 percent, and the 35 percent rate would have to be 85 percent.

I'm sure
they would much rather deal with the press release regurgitators of the MSM than anyone who confronts them and wants them to defend their positions. God, knows the mainstream press won't do it.
Lawmakers are increasingly frustrated with guerrilla-style reporters, bloggers and campaign operatives who ambush them on video to provoke an aggressive or outraged response.

I wonder what the default rate is?
What got us into the financial trouble we're in now?
A housing bubble where people that couldn't afford their houses were encouraged with loans, grants and tax dollars to buy.
Columbus is busy trying to blow up the burst bubble with more taxpayer dollars going to many who pay nothing in income taxes.
The dream of owning a home was kept alive for about 20 homebuyers on Tuesday when Columbus Council agreed to seek $160,000 to shore up depleted funds in its home program.
Under the home program managed by the city, first-time homebuyers with low- to moderate-income may apply for grants of $5,150 or $10,150 in redevelopment areas if they meet certain requirements.
If they just wait
Obama and the Democrats will do it for them.
"They are driving to get the super-rich, starting with the Forbes list of the 400 wealthiest Americans, to pledge literally pledge at least 50% of their net worth to charity during their lifetimes or at death."
Sounds like Alabama
only officially sanctioned by the government.
An unusual election in a New York City suburb, in which voters could cast six ballots for one candidate, apparently resulted Wednesday in the first Hispanic elected to the village Board of Trustees.
The complaint was that hispanics made up half of the town's population but didn't have an elected official.
My question is "was the hispanic population that couldn't elect an official despite being almost half the population, citizens or were the illegals counted in?

Time to get out of gold?
Part inflation hedge, part emotional touchstone, this most mesmerizing of metals continues its gravity-defying climb, jumping nearly 400 percent since 1999. Last week, it hit an all-time high of $1,254. It then dropped a bit but still has outperformed stocks, bonds and other commodities this year. As financial markets around the world creak beneath mountains of debt, everyone from central banks to individual investors have jumped into gold.
When everybody is piling on, it's generally a good time to get out

Alabama and Senator Richard Shelby (R)
make the PorkBusters....again
In one prominent example, Alabama went from receiving $6 million less in annual earmark spending than other states to $90 million above the state average after Republican Sen. Richard Shelby assumed the chairmanship of the Senate Intelligence Committee in 1997. Shelby earmarked $15 million for low-cost fabricated housing, but the study found that one of Alabama’s largest suppliers of this housing, Homes Inc., correspondingly reduced capital expenditures by 79.5 percent and downsized its work force by 30 percent.
Coincidence? Not likely. “The pattern repeats itself across decades and over thousands of firms.”

Just the tip of the iceberg
Dallas County had reports of people showing up to vote at polls and poll officials telling them they couldn't vote because they had cast absentee ballots. The voters said they hadn't cast absentee ballots.
Officials also are looking at Houston County where half of the 1,000 absentee ballots were cast in one commission district, Chapman said.

One of my peeves
is where people try to celebrate Memorial Day, by honoring all those who have served as a local ad claimed .
That's not what Memorial Day is about.
It's about those in the military who have made the ultimate sacrifice. Honoring those who served is Veterans Day.
Here's one of my favorite posts where I skew some of the Phenix City powers that be on

And here is my true post for Memorial Day. Thank God we haven't had to add a new obelisk.

Artur Davis, running for Governor of Alabama
as a Democrat, in my opinion, made a conscious decision to tick off the black organizations during the primary, in order to court white voters during the general election....if he makes it that far.
Rasmussen has a poll
Both Democratic hopefuls trail three of the top Republicans in the race again this month but run neck-and-neck if former Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore is the GOP contender.
If Moore is the GOP contender, then I would more than likely sit out the election. I'm a fiscal conservative while I tend to be more liberal (to a point) on social issues.
How did we get there?
The "there" Senator Coburn was asking about is the situation where the individual's right to bear arms is explicit in the Constitution yet unsettled in law, while a woman's right to privacy (to an abortion), not mentioned at all in the Constitution, is settled in law. Thus, the perfectly reasonable question, "How did we get there?"

Hmmm, an old skill
of mine might be in need soon.
To give an idea of how quickly a chain reaction could get out hand consider this: in February of last year a defunct Russian satellite collided with a communications satellite, turning 2 orbiting craft into 1,500 pieces of junk. The Chinese missile test that obliterated a satellite in 2007 spawned 100 times more than that, scattering 150,000 pieces of debris.
What skill could I possibly have that would be needed if the satellite system became unusable?

Everybody who has read
my posts know I'm not the trusting type when it comes to the Koreans or their companies.
South Korea’s Collective Shrug
South Korean nationalism is something quite different from the patriotism toward the state that Americans feel. Identification with the Korean race is strong, while that with the Republic of Korea is weak.
